Kimya Dawson the Next Big Thang!

M LOVIN' MISS KIMYA DAWSON & MY B-DAY'S CUMMIN UP! SO IF YER THINKIN' OF GETTIN' ME SUMTHIN' SEND ME HER CD!

loose lips might sink ships but loose gooses take trips
to san francisco, double dutch disco,
tech tv hottie, do it for scotty
do it for the living and do it for the dead
do it for the monsters under your bed
do it for the teenagers and do it for your mom
broken hearts hurt but they make us strong and
we won't stop until somebody calls the cops
and even then we'll start again and just pretend that
nothing ever happened
we won't stop until somebody calls the cops
and even then we'll start again and just pretend that
nothing ever happened
we're just dancing, we're just hugging,
singing, screaming, kissing, tugging
on the sleeve of how it used to be
how's it gonna be?
i'll drop kick russell stover, move into the starting over house
and know matt rouse and jest are watching me achieve my dreams
and we'll pray, all damn day, every day,
that all this shit our president has got us in will go away
while we strive to figure out a way we can survive
these trying times without losing our minds
so if you wanna burn yourself remember that I LOVE YOU
and if you wanna cut yourself remember that I LOVE YOU
and if you wanna kill yourself remember that I LOVE YOU
call me up before your dead, we can make some plans instead
send me an IM, i'll be your friend
shysters live from scheme to scheme and my 4th quarter pipe dreams
are seeming more and more worth fighting for
so i'll curate some situations, make my job a big vacation
and i'll say FUCK BUSH AND FUCK THIS WAR
my war paint is sharpie ink and i'll show you how much my shit stinks
and ask you what you think because your thoughts and words are powerful
they think we're disposable, well both my thumbs opposable
are spelled out on a double word and triple letter score
we won't stop until somebody calls the cops
and even then we'll start again and just pretend that
nothing ever happened
we won't stop until somebody calls the cops
and even then we'll start again and just pretend that
nothing ever happened
we're just dancing, we're just hugging,
singing, screaming, kissing, tugging
on the sleeve of how it used to be

Tree Hugger

Tree Hugger by Kimya Dawson

The flower said, "I wish I was a tree,"
The tree said, "I wish I could be
A different kind of tree,
The cat wished that it was a bee,
The turtle wished that it could fly
Really high into the sky,
Over rooftops and then dive
Deep into the sea.

And in the sea there is a fish,
A fish that has a secret wish,
A wish to be a big cactus
With a pink flower on it.
And in the sea there is a fish,
A fish that has a secret wish,
A wish to be a big cactus
With a pink flower on it.

And the flower
Would be its offering
Of love to the desert.
And the desert,
So dry and lonely,
That the creatures all
Appreciate the effort.

And the rattlesnake said,
"I wish I had hands so
I could hug you like a man."
And then the cactus said,
"Don't you understand,
My skin is covered with sharp spikes
That'll stab you like a thousand knives.
A hug would be nice,
But hug my flower with your eyes."

The flower said, "I wish I was a tree,"
The tree said, "I wish I could be
A different kind of tree,
The cat wished that it was a bee,
The turtle wished that it could fly
Really high into the sky,
Over rooftops and then dive
Deep into the sea.

And in the sea there is a fish,
A fish that has a secret wish,
A wish to be a big cactus
With a pink flower on it.
And in the sea there is a fish,
A fish that has a secret wish,
A wish to be a big cactus
With a pink flower on it.

And the flower
Would be its offering
Of love to the desert.
And the desert,
So dry and lonely,
That the creatures all
Appreciate the effort.

Little Baby Steps for our country!"

Have you had a fine February 26, EDSA REV DAY!  Was just bummin around the mall, when I happened to stop by at Mary Grace and read this little book by Alexander Lacson, "12 little things every Filipino can do to help our Country."  It made me realize how much we can do with a little effort to help out instead of bitchin around.  Because that's what everyone seems to be doing nowadays, bitch-bitch-bitch! Yada-yada-yada! What they don't realize is, if they spent the little amount of effort on doing something positive for the country instead of wasting time bitchin' well then maybe then this country will turn around for the better.

Here's the book's premise.

1. Follow our Traffic laws! - I always say, I will only believe this country is improving if the Filipino learns how to cross a street!

2. Whenever you buy or pay for anything ask for an official receipt.  - Few people know this, by asking for a receipt for a service rendered or a commodity, you are actually helping our government collect taxes.  The more taxes collected, the more money can go to paying debts.

3. Don't buy smuggled goods. Buy local. Buy Filipino.  This is so hard to do!  But it's an effort. We always think that Foreign is more superior in quality. And specially with all the pirated goods around that come cheap.

4. When you talk to others, especially foreigners, speak positively about us and our country. "What comes out of your mouth defines you!"

5. Respect your traffic officer, policeman or soldier.

6. Do not litter. Dispose your garbage properly. Segregate. Recycle and Conserve.

7. Support your church. By supporting your church, you are actually helping the church sustain efforts to alleviate poverty. Here's something from "Across the Universe", Jude reacting to the discussion of Max's family over Thanksgiving dinner, Max's Uncle said, "What you do defines who you are." Max said, "No! Who you are defines what you do!", wherein Jude replied, "Actually I think, it's the way you do it."

8. During elections, do your solemn duty.

9. Pay your employees well.

10. Pay your taxes.

11. Adopt a scholar or a poor child.

12. Be a good parent.  Teach your kids to follow the law and love our country.

This book reminded me of an article I read a while ago from "Jim Paredes".

He wrote, " I believe that it is our tiny largely unrecognized, unappreciated but sustained efforts that really count.  It is those moments when we just seem to be plodding on that hold up the sky, so to speak, and that makes everything, especially the big things, possible."

Further on He wrote, " The daily grind consists of small acts of perseverance which I know are as important as the end goal or the ambition achieved."

So now, keeping these words of wisdom in mind, I believe our country is as good as the attitudes of the people in it.  It is,  by these small positive acts done consistently with perseverance, the only way that can help our country rise above its problems and achieve its goals.

She's at it Again! Just when I thought she was taking the superficial route. She Suprises Us with This! Envoy for UN on fighting World Hunger. She never ceases to amaze! Truly a Shining One! What I like about her is that she goes beyond celebrity and chooses a path less taken! She puts a face on helping others! Way to Go Gurrl!

AnyOne Else But You (Original Version) by the Moldy Peaches

You're a part time lover and a full time friend
The monkey on you're back is the latest trend
I don't see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you

I kiss you on the brain in the shadow of a train
I kiss you all starry eyed, my body's swinging from side to side
I don't see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you

Here is the church and here is the steeple
We sure are cute for two ugly people
I don't see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you

The pebbles forgive me, the trees forgive me
So why can't, you forgive me?
I don't see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you

I will find my nitch in your car
With my mp3 DVD rumple-packed guitar
I don't see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you

Du du du du du du dudu
Du du du du du du dudu
Du du du du du du dudu du

Up up down down left right left right B A start
Just because we use cheats doesn't mean we're not smart
I don't see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you

You are always trying to keep it real
I'm in love with how you feel
I don't see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you

We both have shiny happy fits of rage
You want more fans, I want more stage
I don't see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you

Don Quixote was a steel driving man
My name is Adam I'm your biggest fan
I don't see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you

Squinched up your face and did a dance
You shook a little turd out of the bottom of your pants
I don't see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you

Du du du du du du dudu
Du du du du du du dudu
Du du du du du du dudu du
But you

AnyOne Else But You.

Here's another Love Song for You from the Juno Soundtrack, which I really like.

It's a song by the Moldy Peaches.

Your part time lover and a full time friend,
The monkey on the back is the latest trend,
Don't see what anyone can see,
In anyone else,
But you

Here is a church and here is a steeple,
We sure are cute for two ugly people,
Don't see what anyone can see,
In anyone else,
But you

We both have shiny happy fits of rage,
I want more fans, you want more stage,
Don't see what anyone can see,
In anyone else,
But you

I'm always tryin to keep it real,
Now I'm in love with how you feel,
I don't see what anyone can see,
In anyone else,
But you

I kiss you on the brain in the shadow of the train,
I kiss you all starry eyed,
My body swings from side to side,
I don't see what anyone can see,
In anyone else,
But you

The pebbles forgive me,
The trees forgive me,
So why can't,
You forgive me?
I don't see what anyone can see,
In anyone else,
But you

Du du du du du du dudu
Du du du du du du dudu
I don't see what anyone can see,
In anyone else,
But you.

Here's BarB's Singin' ' You'll Never Know'

YOU’LL NEVER KNOW

(Barbra Streisand Version)

You’ll Never Know Just How Much I Miss You

You’ll Never Know Just How Much I Care

And if I try I still couldn’t hide my Love for You

You ought to know or haven’t I told you so?

A Million or more times?

You went away and my Heart went with You

I speak your name in my every prayer

If there is some other way to prove that I Love You

I swear I don’t know how.

You’ll never know if you don’t know now.

You said goodbye

The stars in the sky refused to shine

Take it from me it’s no fun to be alone

With moonlight and memories

You went away and my heart went with you

I speak your name in my every prayer.

If there is some other way to prove that I love you

I swear I don’t know how!

You’ll never if you don’t know now!

Darlin you’ll never know

If you don’t know now….

All I WANT IS YOU!

GUYS SINCE IT'S STILL TECHNICALLY VALENTINE'S.  HERE'S ONE OF MY RECENT FAVORITE LOVE SONGS. FROM THE MOVIE JUNO

If I was a flower growing wild and free
All I'd want is you to be my sweet honey bee.
And if I was a tree growing tall and greeen
All I'd want is you to shade me and be my leaves

If I was a flower growing wild and free
All I'd want is you to be my sweet honey bee.
And if I was a tree growing tall and greeen
All I'd want is you to shade me and be my leaves

All I want is you, will you be my bride
Take me by the hand and stand by my side
All I want is you, will you stay with me?
Hold me in your arms and sway me like the sea.

If you were a river in the mountains tall,
The rumble of your water would be my call.
If you were the winter, I know I'd be the snow
Just as long as you were with me, let the cold winds blow

All I want is you, will you be my bride
Take me by the hand and stand by my side
All I want is you, will you stay with me?
Hold me in your arms and sway me like the sea.

If you were a wink, I'd be a nod
If you were a seed, well I'd be a pod.
If you were the floor, I'd wanna be the rug
And if you were a kiss, I know I'd be a hug

All I want is you, will you be my bride
Take me by the hand and stand by my side
All I want is you, will you stay with me?
Hold me in your arms and sway me like the sea.

If you were the wood, I'd be the fire.
If you were the love, I'd be the desire.
If you were a castle, I'd be your moat,
And if you were an ocean, I'd learn to float.

All I want is you, will you be my bride
Take me by the hand and stand by my side
All I want is you, will you stay with me?
Hold me in your arms and sway me like the sea.

Across the Universe on DVD

Since the movie seems to be taking it 's sweet time coming to our shores.  I am sorry to admit that I was forced to buy a pirated copy of aforementioned.  But I know nothing really beats the original so I promised myself I'll still watch it on the Big Screen.  Specially with the music the movie has, I think the theatre is the best place to watch it.

Meantime, I am watching it's small screen version, in excitement.  Hope I got a clear copy.

Natch!

Experiencing True Moments of Clarity

You'll remember that moment when everything in a life seems muddled and hazy?  You say to yourself, "Why is this happening to me? And Why does this have to happen to me?"  And you feel deeply, so strongly until a HIGHER ACUTE AWARENESS sends you on another plain of conscious thought.  So you come to understand the importance of little details and reasons for a moment.  Then you realize a decision out of that clarity.

A Valentine for You!

This is for you guys out there who I truly miss! Wish you were right here beside me! This is Michael Buble’s version. But I really like Barbra Streisand’s version better.

 Happy Valentine Everyone!

You'll Never Know Lyrics

 Artist(Band):Michael Buble

You'll never know just how much I miss you,

You'll never know just how much I care.

And if I tried I still couldn't hide My love for you

You ought to know For haven't I told you so

 A million or more times?

You went away and my heart went with you

I speak your name in my every prayer

If there is some other way

To prove that I love you I swear I don't know how

You'll never know if you don't know now.

You'll Never Know" is a popular song. The music was written by Harry Warren and the lyrics by Mack Gordon based on a poem written by a young Oklahoma war bride named Dorothy Fern Norris. The song was featured in the 1943 movie Hello, Frisco, Hello where it is sung by Alice Faye. It was also performed by Faye in the 1944 film Four Jills in a Jeep. It was recorded in 1943 by, among others, Frank Sinatra and Dick Haymes (whose version was a #1 hit on the R&B charts that year). A 1952 recording by Rosemary Clooney is also well known, even a version recorded in 1954 by Big Maybelle. The Sinatra and Haymes records were made during a strike by the American Federation of Musicians. As a result, the recordings were made without musicians, using a vocal group as backup for the singers replacing the usual instrumental backup. The group backing Haymes, The Song Spinners, was actually given credit on the records. The song was the first song that Barbra Streisand ever recorded in 1955. It was the opening song on her 4-CD box-set Just for the Record (1991). The box-set closed with another version of the song, sung as a duet by Streisand in 1991 and herself as a girl of 13. The song won the 1943 Academy Award for Best Original Song.
